We are taught from birth that washing our face is something that we need to do every day. If you’re like most of us, however, washing your face feels more like a chore that you have to do than something you should make the time to do. Taking the time to wash your face before going to bed is a chore–even if the memories of fighting acne all through puberty are still fresh. Here’s the thing: you need to keep your face clean to keep dirt and bacteria from infecting your pores. Do you really want to be a grown person sporting a face full of acne? Here are a few hints to help you keep your skin healthy.
Keep your linens clean. Some people can go weeks and weeks without changing their linens or washing their blankets. When you suffer from regular acne problems, you cannot let yourself fall into this kind of bad habit. Instead of slacking, wash and dry your bedding every two or three days. This will help you keep your face as clean as possible while you are sleeping. You should also take care to always wear clean clothing and pajamas. Even though it seems extreme, even pulling yesterday’s t-shirt down over your face could deposit enough debris in your pores to cause a breakout.
Your makeup and other cosmetic items might be oil based. Sometimes even the cleanser you use on your face will have an oily base! The reason you wash your face with cleanser is to get rid of the oil in your pores! It is important to take a moment to make sure there isn’t any oil in any of the cleansers, cosmetics or other beauty products you think about buying. Instead of purchasing liquid or lotion-like cosmetics and beauty products, choose ones that use powder. A facial cleanser should be light and feel more like lotion than soap, so stay away from super heavy liquids or cleansers that start out as solids. Practice your common sense and you’ll be fine!
Clean your face a minimum of two times each day. Your pores can become clogged even at night while you are dreaming. You should have a cleaning routine for your skin that you do in the morning and at night. During the day your pores get heavily clogged by environmental agents, so your evening routine will be more extensive while your morning routine need consist of little more than a quick washing. Your face will be very happy! Sometimes the best thing you can do to treat your acne is to go back to basics: keep your face clean and keep your hands away from breakouts. Other breakouts will require you to use something a little bit more powerful than a basic cleanser. No matter how old you might be, there are plenty of options available to help you keep your breakouts from coming back-isn’t that great?
