I’m asked the same question a lot these days: “can you really make any money with eBooks in this bad economy?” The question itself annoys me because it reflects a level of ignorance on the part of the person asking the question. Listen, there are people whose personal financial situation is lousy regardless of the economy. This is important. When times are good, there are still people who are spending way more than they earn, and who are diving deeper and deeper into debt. They have no cash, no savings, jobs that can vanish overnight, and no real education. Yet these people keep buying. Why? Because that’s what they do.
When you’re approaching the eBook publishing business, you have to stop thinking about the nature of the overall economy. If you allow forces beyond your control to dictate whether or not you’ll be successful, then odds are you’ll remain broke, frustrated, and anxious. That’s the reality my friend. I know, because I was once the type of person I now find annoying. I’d always be watching the news, thinking that the latest calamity spelled the end of the world. When the stock market would go down, I felt as if though I were poorer than I already was — even though I didn’t even own any stocks or mutual funds! How ridiculous is that?
Here’s the bottom line. Can you really make money with eBooks despite a bad economy? Yes, you can. But don’t just take my word for it. Look around. Do you see people buying stuff at shopping malls? I do. Get it through your head… your success or failure as an eBook publisher has nothing to do with the economy. I’d highly recommend following a proven road map that will show you the shortcuts to making a lot of money quickly regardless of the economy with eBooks. You don’t need a road map, you can do what I did and figure everything out by trial and error. Trust me, it works. But if I had to do it all over again, I’d much rather someone have just handed me a blueprint that told me exactly what to do.
