Maybe you just did not see it coming, and then it hit you like a ton of bricks. One day your boyfriend said those four dreaded words: “we need to talk.” And then he broke up with you. You may have started crying and trying to get him to change his mind, but it did not work. Finally, you went home, lonely and sad. You say you want to know how to get ex boyfriend back, but do not know how to do it. Here are some tips you may want to take to heart.
Allow Yourself To Feel Sadness
Feeling sad is natural when someone you love does not want to be part of your life anymore. Trying not to feel sad when you really are never works. Go ahead and feel the feeling. It will not harm you in the end. Let yourself cry for a bit before you think about what to do next.
Clarify Your Thoughts
Once you have settled down a bit and the sadness has let up a little, you need to do some thinking. What you need to think about is this: yourself. Use this time to really clarify, with your head and with your heart, whether or not you even want him in your life anymore. As a female in our culture, it is so easy to buy into the myth that girls and women need a man.
Claim Your Own Power
It is very important for a woman to be okay with or without a man. Decide what kinds of things you want out of life. Try to picture life without your ex-boyfriend. Developing a better sense of yourself is attractive to any man worth getting involved with. Nobody wants to be around someone who agrees with everything they say or who are clingy and insecure. If you see that you are insecure, take time to work it out. You will be in a better position to have a good relationship if you face your own demons first.
Do Not Call Him
If you have decided that you want to try and get back together with your ex-boyfriend, do not desperately try to talk him into it. Calling him 10 or 20 times begging and pleading is demeaning to you and really not effective in getting him back. Let him see that you are happy and have continued to live. This positive change in you may make him re-think the breakup.
Do Not Stalk Him
If you are looking to get your ex-boyfriend to come back to you, the last thing you want to do is come off as an obsessed creepy chick. That will do nothing but make him run away from you even faster. A better tactic than stalking him is to be casually friendly. If you are still on good terms, after a bit of time has passed, see if he wants to go to the concert in the park or some other type of non-threatening, non-romantic activity that you know he will enjoy. Be sure he knows it is not a date and no strings are attached to the invitation.
Invest In Yourself
The time after a breakup can go one of two ways. You can eat compulsively, smoke more, drink more and generally make yourself feel more miserable than you did to start with, or you can be good to yourself. Get healthy. Get fit. It has been said that looking great when you run into an ex is the best revenge. It will make him wonder why he left to begin with.
Acting weak and desperate is not how to get your ex-boyfriend back. Acting like that gives him all of the power over your own life. You need to keep that power for yourself and decide what you want to do about the situation. Be friendly when you see him. Ultimately, you just do not know if he will get back with you or not. That is his choice. If things work out, great. You will have a better relationship having addressed some of your own issues in the process of learning how to get ex boyfriend back. If things do not work out, you still have the benefit of making yourself a better person.
