We are taught from birth that washing our face is something that we need to do every day. If you are like most of your friends, you don’t really care about washing your face every day–in fact, doing so feels like a chore! When all you want to do is go to sleep, washing your face is a huge pain in the…you know what–even if you can still remember your puberty years like they just finished happening. Here’s the truth: to keep bacteria and other things from clogging your pores, you need to keep your face clean. Are you prepared to be the only adult you know who still fights acne every day? Here is how you keep your face clean and keep acne away.
Keep your linens clean. Some people can go weeks and weeks without changing their linens or washing their blankets. If you have problems with acne, you cannot afford to be one of these people. Instead of slacking, wash and dry your bedding every two or three days. This will ensure that dust and other pore cloggers have a hard time getting into your face while you sleep. Your pajamas and other clothes should also always be clean. It seems silly, but if you are prone to breakouts, sometimes all it takes to start a fresh one is wearing the same shirt a couple of days in a row.
If your acne is very bad, you will want to choose facial cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Skincare developers made these cleansers specifically to attack acne that normal cleansers don’t seem to affect that much. Do not buy these cleansers unless your acne really is severe-using them on sporadic zits and pimples could strip your skin of nutrients and make it more vulnerable to breakouts than it has ever been. People who suffer from really bad breakouts on a regular basis will find products with these ingredients extremely helpful-they could be just the ticket to cleaner and clearer skin!
The sun is not your friend so protect your skin against it! Slathering on sunscreen might seem counterproductive to people who focus on keeping their pores substance free. Today there are plenty of oil free sunscreens available.
Protecting your skin no longer means spreading heavy layers of cream all over it. Now you can choose between sunscreens that are light and can be sprayed on instead of rubbed in. You no longer have to layer on the product because most makeup and lotion already contains sunscreen. Don’t forget that tanning will not prevent acne, it will only support skin cancer. Believe it or not the basic forms of acne prevention are also the best: cleanse your face regularly and don’t pick at anything that pops up. There will be times when you want something a little stronger to combat a breakout. You should be happy to know that while acne does not discriminate against age, neither do acne fighting agents-you should be able to find something to cure your breakout no matter what your number is.
