Remembering Viren Shah: A gentleman extraordinaire

Mumbai, 2 April 2013: Indian Merchant’s Chamber organised a Condolence Meeting at IMC to pay tributes to Mr. Viren J. Shah, Trustee and Past President of IMC and former Governor of West Bengal who passed away on 9 March 2013. “There are instances in our life exactly where we are confused how to bear in mind a person when 1 from amongst us is not with us. But about Virenbhai, it was celebration of life all through his life. In all his associations as a top industrialist, Politician or as a social worker, he was complete of power and spread positivism throughout his life,” recalled, Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, President, IMC.
“A person who contributed so a lot in so several fields, I am fortunate that I knew him closely,” mentioned Mr. Praful Patel, Hon’ble Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. “The value that Virenbhai brought to the table is not noticed right now and I am worried that it might not be observed in future also. In today’s world, men and women demand respect. But Virenbhai commanded respect and we all are going to miss him,” added Mr. Patel.
Recalling his individual interactions with the late Mr. Shah and his household, Mr. Uday Kotak, Executive Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., mentioned. “There are some males who have fragrance when they live and spread even stronger fragrance when they leave this globe. Virenbhai was certainly a single of them.”
“At the age of 86, Mr. Shah had a peaceful departure after living a meaningful and colourful life, numerous can emulate,” mentioned Mr. Jerry Rao, Executive Chairman, Value and Price range Housing Corporation.
Talking about the late Mr. Shah and his interactions with him and his family, Mr. Piyush Goyal, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha stated, “Virenbhai has produced some deep sacrifices for the cause of the nation and leaves behind a excellent legacy.” “He taught us that if you stand for a cause, good will prevail at the end,” he added.
Talking about his family’s close association with the late Mr. Shah’s family members for many decades now, Mr. Niraj Bajaj, Trustee &amp Previous President, IMC, and Chairman &amp Managing Director, Mukand Ltd. mentioned, “As an industrialist, he pioneered new technologies, and as a human becoming he made us better human beings. He was a man of easy living and higher thinking.”
On behalf of the family members of the late Mr. Viren Shah, his son, Mr Rajesh Shah thanked the speakers and the audience for remembering his father. He also thanked IMC for organising the Condolence Meeting to pay tributes to the departed soul.
