Tips for a Successful Tropical Inspired Destination Wedding

Besides pure luck, preparation is the key for any successful endeavor that holds true most of the time. From taking a major examination, presenting a dance number for the school’s talent show, cooking of meals, and so on and so forth, all these and more entails preparation in one way or another. The same concept applies for weddings. Most especially if you are opting for a destination wedding with all the wonderful stuff and details that goes with it, a beautiful wedding dress, perfect wedding rings, perfect hair, makeup, heavenly banquet of fine food and drinks, tropical island venue, celebrating with close family members and friends, and many others. But everything can be quite a handful and nerve wrecking just to get everything to work together. But don’t worry; here are just some of the things that you can keep in mind if you’re throwing a destination wedding inspired by the tropics to get you started.

Allot ample time to prepare before the big day. It can be as short as few weeks, 6 months, or even a few years, depending on your resources and readiness. But if you really would like to maximize your budget and options, the longer the better since you can get hold of better deals like suppliers, sufficient time to scout for cheaper alternatives, just to name a few.

Get the help of a professional wedding coordinator. You wouldn’t want to be so stressed out come your wedding day right? Plus, it is always better to have a third person who knows the ins and outs and take care of the wedding preparations. You can communicate all your concerns, expectations, working budgets and a lot more, and he or she should be able to provide sound advice and work on almost everything to get that dream wedding of yours to come true. So leave everything to the capable hands of a trusted wedding coordinator.

Book everything ahead of time. One of the first things to make sure you’ve completed is having the venue reserved immediately after you’ve made your choice. You never know, somebody else might be considering the same location as you are on the very same date. Same goes with the suppliers as others may want to get their services as well. Basically, this is a perfect example where the saying “better late than never” is not applicable at all.

Lastly, be positive about everything. Remember that setbacks can happen, like finances, availability of suppliers, issues on small details, and other inevitable circumstances that might not go in accordance with your plans. Just stay focused and know that there will be alternatives and everything will be just fine.

I recorded this video throughout the trip in Bali from 2 to 6 June 2011. I had approximately 48 hours to capture all these photos which amounted to 4000+ still images. The process of filming included a variety of famous landmarks in Bali, i.e. Kuta, Legian, Tanjung Benoa, Sanur, Uluwatu, GWK Park, Tanah Lot, Bali, Tampaksiring (Pura Tirta Empul). A full day trip that made my skin burned in the sun.

I took 3 days for editing process in which I tried to utilise the “motorize slider effect” using “masking” in Adobe After Effects. Colour Correction was done with Adobe Premiere Pro.
